Educating Parents to Model AAC at Home

Drag to resize
Parent education in AAC has numerous benefits to children and their families, including reducing the likelihood of system abandonment. However, in-service style trainings rarely result in increased AAC use at home. The SMoRRES® Training Program is based on decades of research on best practices in adult education, can be implemented with parents with young children who use AAC, and is primarily conducted within naturally occurring family routines in the home. Participants will learn the many benefits of parent education, benefits of modeling AAC, elements of successful parent education programs, and how the SMoRRES® Training Program can be used to teach parents to model AAC.
