#AACES2025 Conference Session

Unlocking Communication Potential Through Effective Communication Partner Strategies

Children with complex communication needs benefit from intentional strategies to support language learning and communication skills development. They may also require augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems and will likely depend on communication partners to facilitate meaningful learning experiences. A key component of any AAC implementation plan is to ensure that communication partners are well-trained and equipped to help AAC users succeed. Using video examples, polls, and webinar chat, participants will apply partner strategies, brainstorm solutions, and identify ways to implement partner strategies all day long. By the end of the session, participants will understand the critical role of communication partners and learn to implement five core partner strategies to support language learning and communication skills development in meaningful ways.
