Equity and Access in the Universally Designed for Learning (UDL), Early Childhood Classroom
Learn how to support culturally and linguistically diverse early childhood students with disabilities by developing relationships that honor cultural and linguistic differences. Participants will explore resources that generate connections between learners and the materials they access in instruction to better respond to and celebrate students from diverse backgrounds while providing equitable access to language supports and instruction.

Meet YOUR instructors
Tonya Williams-Walker
Tonya Williams-Walker is an instructional specialist for the Preschool Education Program for Montgomery County Public Schools in Rockville, MD. She supports preschool teachers in the use of culturally responsive teaching practices and making learning accessible to children who require specialized instruction in a variety of preschool settings. She is a Maryland Pyramid Model Master Cadre member, supporting the implementation of the Pyramid Model Framework, an approach that integrates culturally responsive practices to promote social-emotional learning in young children. Mrs. Williams-Walker, a speech pathologist and assistive technology consultant, is also an adjunct professor in the Hearing and Speech Sciences Department at the University of Maryland at College Park, where she teaches the graduate course in and in as part of the Hearing and Speech Sciences in the Evening (HESPIE) program.

Alisa Bell is a special educator and curriculum specialist in the Division of Early Childhood of Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland.
