#AACES2025 Conference Session

Transitioning your Preschool Classroom from Light-Tech to High-Tech AAC

Early childhood extensive needs classes are accustomed to providing lite-tech visuals and sign language for communication. But what happens when you bring universal high-tech AAC into the room? In this presentation you’ll hear from a preschool team including a teacher, an SLP, and an AAC specialist, who worked together to make this transition over the course of several years. Rather than helping each individual child to transition from light-tech to high-tech, we leveraged a specific language system first approach, AAC screenings, and an integrated language and literacy curriculum to bring robust AAC to all.
