AAC Assessment Basics Learning Series

This 3-part, 3-hour learning series equips speech-language pathologists and other professionals with practical, evidence-informed approaches for assessing and supporting AAC users with complex communication needs. Across the series, participants will learn to assess communication and participation needs, provide access to starter AAC, match AAC features to individual strengths and needs, and use dynamic intervention trials to inform AAC decision-making. Participants will also explore foundational considerations for vision, motor access, sensory processing, regulation, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Participants will leave with practical tools and strategies for moving from understanding the communicator to providing meaningful AAC access—and continuing to learn through use.
